We went for a hike today at Rainbow Falls in Gorges State Park, NC. The weather was gorgeous and the falls were even more impressive. At 125 feet high, the falls are quite large and the water rushes at an extremely fast and strong pace down the rock face. The hike was moderate, providing just the right mix of steep climbs, flat areas, and forest paths. We didn't see any rainbows in the falls, but we were there in the evening and apparently the time to see the rainbows is in the morning on a bright sunny day.
If you want to explore a waterfall in Western North Carolina, this is one of the best!
